Tune in as Dr. Joshua Nitsche presents Fellow "Bootcamp" Part 4: Hands-on Ultrasound Guidance Training
During part four of the MFM Fellow Bootcamp, Dr. Joshua Nitsche will introduce the basic psychomotor skills needed to perform ultrasound guided procedures, such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling, safely and successfully
During this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Describe how the relationship between the probe orientation and needle insertion site during an ultrasound guided invasive procedure influences how and where the needle will appear on the ultrasound screen.
- Demonstrate how to select a needle insertion site, locate the needle after insertion, and purposefully guide the needle toward the intended target on a homemade task trainer.
- Practice the core guidance skills common to all ultrasound guided procedures using novel targeting tasks
Dr. Nitsche will cover foundational skills required for all ultrasound guided invasive procedures. This will be a hands-on simulation session where participants follow along with Dr. Nitsche as he demonstrates these skills virtually. This session requires that a homemade task trainer, made for readily available materials, be constructed at least 2 weeks beforehand.
To participate in the simulation it will require you to purchase some materials and build a small model. Step-by-step instructions can be found below:
