Speakers: Dr. Catherine Albright and Dr. Sarahn Wheeler (lead author of "Race in Maternal-Fetal Medicine Research - Dispelling Myths and Taking an Accurate, Antiracist Approach")

Recorded: April 2022

Profound inequities in maternal and infant outcomes based on race exist, and the maternal-fetal medicine community has an important role in eliminating these disparities. On this podcast, Dr. Catherine Albright interviews Dr. Sarahn Wheeler about the SMFM Special Statement, “Race in Maternal-Fetal Medicine Research - Dispelling Myths and Taking an Accurate, Antiracist Approach,” of which Dr. Wheeler is the lead author. The statement was published in the April 2022 issue of AJOG and provides specific suggestions for approaching research with an antiracist framework. This podcast is the first in a series developed by the SMFM Research Committee, intended to address the role that research can play in achieving health equity.
