This lecture is designed to share information on how to prepare for the 2025-2026 respiratory disease season in the US and reaffirm maternal immunization as a key strategy to prevent severe respiratory disease. Attendees will learn about the impacts of respiratory diseases on maternal, fetal and infant health outcomes and learn about SMFM recommendations for maternal immunization against COVID, influenza, pertussis and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
Learning Objectives:
- Provide an overview of respiratory disease season in the US.
- Describe the risks of respiratory diseases on maternal, fetal and infant health outcomes;
- Describe the benefits of maternal immunization on maternal, fetal and infant health outcomes;
- Review SMFM recommendations on COVID, influenza, RSV, and Tdap immunizations;
- Review SMFM recommendations on preparedness for respiratory disease season;
- Discuss anticipated seasonal outlook and vaccine availability/options; and
- Share trusted SMFM and partner organization resources for clinicians and patients
