One of the SMFM’s missions is career and practice support, and a large component of this is proper billing and coding practices. Coding is often an overlooked arena during fellowship training, as the focus is on research and clinical care. However, once physicians complete fellowship and start practice, they realize that coding and billing drive practice and organizational sustainability.  Practices cannot provide high-risk care without optimizing their payments and reimbursements. Given that there is no formal training in fellowship regarding practice management, this course serves as an introduction to basic coding concepts. It’s an ideal course for new MFM attendings or for those who want a refresher course on coding basics.

Course Co-Directors: Fadi A. Bsat, MD, and Vanita D. Jain, MD  Course Faculty: Steve Rad, MD, FACOG; Brad Hart, MBS, MS, CPME, CPC, CPMA, COBGC; Arij Faksh, DO; Elizabeth Westen, MD; and Matt Zuber, MD

Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit is provided for this course through Global Learning Collaborative (GLC).

Accreditation and Credit Designation Statements

In support of improving patient care, Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Global Learning Collaborative (GLC) designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 3.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
