The Critical Care in Obstetrics Online Course Hypertensive Disease Bundle consists of the following 3 modules (4.5 hours of learning) each offering 1.5 CME credits (a total of 4.5 CME credits): 

Hypertensive Disorders: Preeclampsia and Eclampsia 

Hypertensive Emergencies 

Understanding Blood Pressure Physiology 


Completion of all components within a module and a score of 75% or greater on the post-test quiz are necessary for attainment of 1.5 CME credits. 

This course will be available for purchase from January 2025 to December 31, 2025. Registrants will have a full year to complete the course from the date of enrollment.

    Upon completion of the components in this module, the learner will be able to:

    1. Recognize the diagnosis of hypertensive emergency.
    2. Assess for underlying etiologies and the associated therapies for each for this scenario. 
    3. Apply appropriate interventions for this situation, as well as prevention when feasible. 
    4. Assess the response to interventions, along with subsequent measures.
    5. Educate colleagues and teammates regarding this situation.

    1. Distinguish between the different hypertensive disorders of pregnancy 
    2. List the risk factors and describe the pathophysiology involved in the presenting signs and symptoms of preeclampsia with severe features
    3. Identify the maternal and fetal complications of preeclampsia with severe features. 
    4. Describe the treatment of preeclampsia with severe features and eclampsia. 
    5. Discuss the long-term health risks of preeclampsia with severe features.
