This course is based on SMFM Consult Series #63: Cesarean Scar Ectopic Pregnancy.
This course addresses the risk factors and clinical presentation of CSEP, describes how to correctly diagnose CSEP, and presents the current treatment modalities that are used to manage these high-risk pregnancies. After completing the course, the learner should be able to:
- Describe the clinical presentation of a CSEP.
- Identify and describe the optimal strategy for diagnosis of CSEP.
- List 6 ultrasonographic criteria for diagnosis of a CSEP.
- Explain why expectant management is not recommended for CSEP.
- List the medical and surgical modalities that are currently recommended to treat CSEP and describe the risks and benefits of each.
- Discuss how a CSEP may impact a future pregnancy.
Continuing Medical Education Credits
The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
This course is designated for a maximum of 3 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Participants must complete all course components and the completion survey to obtain credits.
This course will be available for purchase from April 17, 2025, to April 17, 2027. Registrants will have a full year (365 days) to complete the course from the date of enrollment.
