This course is based on SMFM Consult Series #63: Cesarean Scar Ectopic Pregnancy, published in 2022 in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
This course addresses the risk factors and clinical presentation of CSEP, describes how to correctly diagnose CSEP, and presents the current treatment modalities that are used to manage these high-risk pregnancies. After completing the course, the learner should be able to:
- Describe the clinical presentation of a CSEP.
- Identify and describe the optimal strategy for diagnosis of CSEP.
- List 6 ultrasonographic criteria for diagnosis of a CSEP.
- Explain why expectant management is not recommended for CSEP.
- List the medical and surgical modalities that are currently recommended to treat CSEP and describe the risks and benefits of each.
- Discuss how a CSEP may impact a future pregnancy.
This course is designated for a maximum of 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Participants must complete the pretest, online course, and completion survey to obtain credits.
